I can't believe how quickly this trip has creeped up on me...but Tuesday, March 14, I am driving to Nashville, Tennessee at Carol Burnett's request. I am going to see her show on Wednesday, March 15 at the Ryman (I'm starstruck already just going in this historic place!). After the show, I am supposed to find a way to get backstage and meet her. I'm going to MEET CAROL BURNETT!
I knew this would happen. Now that the big day is less than a week away, I've started getting so nervous! I keep worrying something is going to happen to prevent me from getting backstage to meet her. I'm nervous about when I do meet her, what am I going to say! When she called to invite me to the show, I cried the whole time and at first didn't even believe it was her! The whole thing is just a crazy lucky experience. I mean how many people can say Carol Burnett called them and invited them to meet her at one of her shows? Not many I assume.
I'm going to spend most of the week in Nashville, including St. Patrick's day. I need to look up the best restaurants and clubs in town. I am staying on a lake near town, so it's going to be a fun time. I still can't believe this is happening. I'm looking forward to it so much, but I'm SO NERVOUS!

Australia--Here I Come!
I've officially booked my flight and lodging for a 16 day trip to Australia! I'm so excited I am not quite sure how to act. It's not until November, so jumping up and down with joy seems a bit premature. I'm just massively looking forward to this "screw you, injury" trip, now that I'm finally healed up and fit to travel.
I'll be flying to Melbourne first, where I'll be spending the majority of my time in Oz. I have a lovely flat in Southbank and I can't wait to explore. I'm going to see the magnificent Pamela Rabe in a solo performance in The Testament of Mary at The Malthouse theatre. If any Aussies read this, I highly recommend you go see it as well. I'm flying halfway around the world just to see it!
After spending 13 days in Melbourne, I will be flying to Sydney for a brief 3 day visit. I couldn't leave the land down under without seeing it's most famous city! I have an apartment right on the harbor, with an incredible view of the harbor bridge and the opera house. The view is a million bucks, no joke. I'm so pumped.
The only thing I'm a little nervous about is transportation. I'm almost definitely not going to rent a car, because I have never driven on the left side of the road and the idea of doing so terrifies me! That's still in question, but I'm not likely to try. Too scary.

2017 So Far
It's official! I've survived a whole week in 2017! Considering the train wreck 2016 was, I'll take it.
This week I made a decision. I was going to start keeping a record of things I do an a daily basis. No I may not blog every single day...who wants to read about a boring day spent at home wasting my time on Twitter and YouTube? Some days I may write about my week, or the past few days. The important thing is, I want to keep a record of my day to day life. And my year as a whole! This year is shaping up to be an exciting one, and I want to be able to remember it. Unfortunately, at 32, remembering things is a problem for me. I'm on medication for my spine injury that causes me to suffer short term memory loss. So there are blocks of time from the last few years I don't remember. Faces I've known my whole life I don't recognize. People I don't remember. I am sick of that empty space. I want to be able to combat that blank slate with this record. Thus, this blog was born.
Now, on to the record of the first week of January 2017.
We didn't do anything for New Year's Eve. We just stayed home, watched TV, and uneventfully rang in the New Year. New Year's Day we went to eat and got a call from Ashly (my cousin) that she was engaged. Her boyfriend Matt had romantically popped the question. Her mom, my aunt, was unimpressed. She's not talking about the wedding at all with her daughter. She doesn't want it to happen. That makes me sad. I like Matt and he's a great guy. I hope my aunt gets over her stubbornness toward him. She's dug her heels in and has decided she doesn't like him. I hate that. We didn't eat the traditional black eyed pea dinner this year. I'm glad, as I am not a fan. Supposedly they bring you luck but they definitely didn't help 2016 at all. We'll see how we do having skipped the superstitious tradition.
Other things that happened this week:

Other things that happened this week:
- Ashly asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding. We are both only children and the closest thing to a sibling so I wasn't surprised, but I was honored.
- I started "meal planning" to assist in my goal to get into shape before my big trips I have planned this year. Both planning meals and trying to get in shape are a pain in the butt.
- I started experimenting with the new camera. January 7 we went to Lake Norrell and photographed the runoff creek. Beautiful photos for the first time experimenting with slow shutter speeds and long exposures.
- I got signed up for all the photography classes I'm interested in so far. I'm wanting to start taking photography seriously as a hobby now that I have a good camera and a lot of time on my hands.
- I finished booking my flights and accommodations for my trip to Australia. I also got my travel insurance and electronic travel visa. It's happening!
My trip to Nashville is right around the corner. I can't believe how fast it's getting here! I'm going to meet Carol Burnett in 66 days! The woman who entertained the world every Saturday night with her iconic show. One of my parents favorite entertainers. One of everyone's favorite entertainers. She wants to meet me and I've been dying to meet her since I was a little girl. I can't believe this is happening.
Today I'm meal planning for the upcoming week. It's so difficult getting the shopping list organized and planning meals using things I already have. I'll get used to it but right now it's hard to do! That's all I can remember about the first week of January. It was a relatively uneventful week and I am not upset about that. Uneventful is good these days!
